Dolphins 2nd Draft Day Options

The second day of the 2018 NFL draft begins at 7 p.m. While everyone loves the first round of the draft in round two and three teams often find some superstars.

In fact in 2014 the Miami Dolphins drafted wide receiver Jarvis Landry in the second round. Could they once again find a steal on the second day?

I do not pretend to know what the Dolphins made do today. I can only say players that I would choose.

While they went defense in the first round with Minkah Fitzpatrick I would look on the offensive side for day 2.

Mike Gesicki, TE Penn State. I have wanted a tight end for Miami since Randy McMichael left and for the last year plus that tight end has been Mike Gesicki. At 6’6 and 247 lbs he has the length and size you want to create mismatches. Running a 4.54 40-time he has the speed to stretch the field.

D.J. Chark, WR LSU. Go back to the well. While Chark is not as refined a receiver as Landry was, he has great deep speed(4.34-40) and at 6’3 199 lbs he has the size you covet.

Luke Falk, QB Washington State, Kyle Lauletta, QB Richmond

I wrote before that I believe that the Dolphins should take a quarterback in this year’s draft. With Ryan Tannehill coming back from injury it only makes sense to have something to develop behind him. On the second day my top two choices would be Luke Falk or Kyle Lauletta. Falk is the more polished passer while Lauletta is more athletic with perhaps more upside. Both players helped themselves a lot leading up to the draft.

Day Two is almost upon us. I cannot wait.
